Bernard MacLaverty

IMG_1528Bernard MacLaverty is an award-winning novelist, playwright, screenwriter, short story writer and librettist.

His 1997 novel, Grace Notes, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and his latest work, Midsummer Break, was chosen as Novel of the Year at the Irish Book Awards 2017. Bernard also wrote the screenplay for his 1983 novel, Cal, a film starring Helen Mirren and John Lynch.

Born and raised in Belfast, he now lives in Glasgow.

The meeting takes place on Thursday, September 20, 2018, in the Lesser Hall of St Boswells Village Hall. Refreshments will be served from 7pm, with the talk due to start at 7.20pm. Non-members are welcome to attend on payment of a £3 entry fee. 

Those wishing to join the BWF for 2018-19 are invited to pay the £15 membership fee on the night or make arrangements to pass it to treasurer Sarah Johnston before the October meeting.
